BGSG Executive for 2014-16

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks to all of our members for supporting the Business Geography Specialty Group (BGSG) of the Association of American Geographers (AAG). The purpose of the BGSG is to bring together AAG members who have mutual professional interests in business geography, also known as locational intelligence. We still have much work to do to move our group forward, but we aim to bring academics together to share research, provide direction for future leaders in our field, and provide a forum for networking and interaction between academics and the business community.

We’ve concluded our 2014 meetings in Tampa, and are looking forward to the next AAG meetings in Chicago, April 2015. In Chicago we will again organize a number of paper and panel sessions for the conference, as well as our annual BGSG business meeting. However, before then we will work as a group to better define and communicate the contributions made by research and development in our field.

Thanks to everyone for your interest and continued support.

Current BGSG Board Members include:

Chair, Murray Rice, University of North Texas
Vice Chair, Lawrence Joseph, West Marine
Secretary-Treasurer, Brett Lucas, City of Cheney
Past Chair and Student Competition Coordinator, Linda Peters, Esri
Student Representative, Ling Zhang, University of Utah
Tony Hernandez, Ryerson University (Canada)
Simona Epasto, University of Messina (Italy)

Best wishes

Murray Rice, Lawrence Joseph, Brett Lucas, and Linda Peters
