Message from the Chair
Dear Colleagues,
Thanks to each of you for supporting the formation of the Business Geography Specialty Group (BGSG) of the Association of American Geographers (AAG). The purpose of the BGSG is to bring together AAG members who have mutual professional interests in business geography. We have a lot of work to do to set goals but hope to begin to bring academics together to share research, provide direction for future leaders, and provide a forum for networking and interaction with the business community.
We would like to ask each of you to participate with us at the AAG meetings in Seattle, April 2011. Currently, we are organizing a number of paper and panel sessions for the conference, and plan to have a meeting of the BGSG. The panel session will be an open discussion in and around the problems facing business today and how geography can help. That will include a discussion on how the university system can and should begin to teach more application areas that focus on business problems.
In the coming months we will be updating our web page (www.businessgeography.info) and mailing list in order to better communicate with our members. In the meantime, we will need your help in spreading the word and getting people interested in participating in the group, both at the AAG meeting and throughout the year.
Thanks to everyone for you interest and continued support.
