AAG 2015 Symposium on CyberGIS for Fostering New Frontiers of Geographic Research and Education

CyberGIS - geographic information science and systems (GIS) based on advanced infrastructure of computing, information, and communication technologies (aka cyberinfrastructure) - has emerged over the past several years as a vibrant interdisciplinary field and played essential roles in enabling computing-, data- and collaboration-intensive geospatial research and education across a number of domains with significant societal impact.

At AAG 2015 annual meeting, we will hold the Symposium on CyberGIS for Fostering New Frontiers of Geographic Research and Education by building on the great success of the AAG 2013 CyberGIS Symposium and AAG 2014 Symposium on Synergistic Advances of CyberGIS and Geography. A suite of panel and paper sessions will address new frontiers of geographic research and education enabled by cutting-edge CyberGIS particularly related to the following themes: big data and computation, collaborative geographic problem solving, complex systems, geospatial semantics, novel applications, and social media.

If you are interested in organizing any sessions as part of the Symposium, please contact Shaowen Wang via shaowen@illinois.edu. To present a paper in any of the Symposium sessions, please register and submit your abstract online, and email your presenter identification number (PIN), paper title, and abstract to aag15@cybergis.org by November 4, 2014. We look forward to your submissions and participation!
