     Students, please note:

    1. Title of the Paper
    2. Abstract of the paper (100 words)
    3. Name(s) of the author/co-author, academic affiliation, mailing address, email address and phone numbers.

    Please make sure that ALL eligibility and submission requirements as specified for each award are met. The deadline for all student paper submissions is January 31, 2015.

    1. The RDSPG Best Undergraduate Student Paper Award

    Papers are invited from undergraduate students who are working broadly on topical issues of regional development, planning and policy. The submitted paper must be scheduled for presentation at the AAG 2015 Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, April 21-25, 2015. The award carries a cash prize of $150.

    Submissions from undergraduate students are welcome from their undergraduate courses or senior seminars as well as entries specifically written for this competition. The authorship can be single-authored and/or co-authored; though the single-authored and/or co-authored student(s) can submit only one paper and the student(s) should be the main contributor(s).

    Manuscripts must be:

    • forwarded by the head or chair of the department of program, or by the student's advisor, with a letter certifying that the student meets the eligibility requirements (including not having been submitted for other specialty group awards);
    • ·no more than fifteen double-spaced, typed pages including maps and other figures. If planning to present at the conference, the abstract for the paper must have also been submitted to the AAG Annual Meeting in Chicago (April 21-25, 2015) by the conference registration deadline.

    2. RDPSG-Sponsored Graduate Paper Awards (2 awards)

     The Ashok K. Dutt Award for Best Graduate Student Paper

    This award is sponsored by Dr. A.K. Dutt, Professor Emeritus, the University of Akron, who is noted for his prolific scholarship on planning and development issues. There are no geographical restrictions, but the paper must deal with urban and regional development and planning. There is an accompanying $200 award premium.

     A.K. Chakravarti Award for Best Student Paper on South Asia

    This award is co-sponsored with the Regional Development and Planning Specialty Group, and carries a $200 prize. The paper is kindly sponsored by (late) Dr. A.K. Chakravarti, Professor Emeritus, University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Chakravarti was a noted researcher in the field of agriculture and nutrition focusing on South Asia. There are no topical restrictions, but the geographic focus must be on South Asia. Manuscripts must not be more than 25 pages in length (double spaced), including references, tables and figures. The paper must be scheduled for presentation at the AAG Annual Meeting in 2015, thus the abstract for the paper must have also been submitted to the AAG Annual Meeting by the conference registration deadline, although exceptions may be made in case of mitigating circumstances. Manuscript should be fronted by a cover page comprising (i) paper title, (ii) Abstract of the paper (100 words), (iii) Name(s) of the author/co-author, academic affiliation, mailing address, email address and phone number. Manuscripts must be forwarded by the head or chair of the department or program, with a letter certifying that the student meets the eligibility requirements (i.e., author(s) have graduate student status, and have not submitted the same paper for other specialty group awards). PLEASE READ AND ADHERE TO ALL THESE REQUIREMENTS. Any departure from these will result in automatic disqualification of the paper. Deadline for final paper submission is January 31, 2015.  Please submit papers to AK Chakravarti Award Chair, Dr. Vandana Wadhwa (email: vandanaw@verizon.net), AND Co-Chair Dr. Nanda Shrestha (email: pokhara@yahoo.com).

     Manuscripts for the two graduate student awards must be:
