The Department of Geography and Geoinformation Science at George Mason University invites applications for a wage-based GIS specialist position beginning ASAP. We seek a candidate with programming skills, comprehension in statistics, and knowledge in geovisual analytics to improve the functional capability of a geovisual analytical tool, which has a median level of complexity in terms of methodology and source code. The term of hiring is approximately one year but longer term is possible depending on the availability of funding. Candidates should have a master’s degree completed or in progress, the experience to program with Java, C++ or Python, the knowledge of open source GIS libraries and QGIS and/or ArcGIS extension development.
