The European Specialty Group (ESG) is pleased to announce the 2019 ESG Graduate Student Papers Competition.  We are inviting submissions of conference papers from graduate (PhD and MA level). Exceptional undergraduate students are also encouraged.

The award is a wonderful opportunity for up-and-coming geographers with research interests in Europe to bring attention to their work and to offset the costs of conference travel. The winner will receive a cash award of $300 for their paper, as well a complimentary ticket to the AAG Annual Meeting Awards Luncheon.

To make this competition a success, we ask that faculty members encourage their graduate students at all levels to enter the competition.

Papers must focus on European geography and students must be members of the ESG in order to be eligible. In addition, the recipient may receive only one AAG specialty group award in the award year. Should the recipient receive more than one award, he/she is obligated to either accept our award or decline in order to accept another specialty group award.

Papers should be double-spaced, 12-point font, and not more than 15 pages in length (including everything).  Please submit two files. One file should consist of the paper without the author's name. A separate file should include the author's name, institution, level of study (MA, PhD), when and at what conference the paper was/will be presented.

Those interested in participating should send a copy of their paper by e-mail as a Word attachment to Christian Sellar (csellar@olemiss.edu) by March 3, 2019.

Early submissions are encouraged; late submissions will not be considered. Please direct any questions you may have about the paper competition to Christian Sellar, University of Mississippi (csellar@olemiss.edu)
