  • New GISS Website

    Dear Colleagues -

I am pleased to announce the release of a new Geographic Information Science & Systems (GISS) Specialty Group website located here:

The purpose of this move is to (1) enable better communication between the GISS Specialty Group and it's members in the AAG community; and (2) utilize a platform that can be sustained and transitioned easily as the leadership of the specialty group changes over time.

All existing content from the SDSU-hosted version of the site (thanks from all of us Ming!) is undergoing transition into this new Wordpress-based interface. If former chairs/secretaries have data (minutes, awardees, etc.), please send them to for inclusion in the site as archival storage.

Going forward, news and information relevant to the AAG GISS-SG will be posted to this site and to the AAG community forum.

Please send any comments/corrections/requests to It is expected that there are mistakes on the website (dates/etc.) and that these will be corrected at the upcoming AAG meeting with the help of senior scholars with longer memories than those in current leadership. If interested in helping, contact

Please visit our new website here:
