AAG 2021 poster abstract is Jan 29!

The Indigenous Peoples Specialty Group welcomes abstracts for posters on Indigenous geographies, broadly defined. Alignment with any of AAG's four themes for the 2021 conference is welcome but not required.

For this virtual session, posters should be designed with the same design principles, goals, and sizes as for an in-person poster session. You will upload your final poster design file later on. AAG promises that virtual poster sessions will have the same opportunities for browsing and interacting with authors that make in-person poster sessions so satisfying.

Topics might include, but are very certainly not limited to:
    • Indigenous relations with environment and place; Indigenous Protectors
    • Indigenous science
    • Indigenous rights
    • Indigenous mapping/cartography and other forms of spatial representation
    • Indigenous GIS applications and ontologies
    • Indigenous placenames/placenaming
    • Cultural landscapes; material and symbolic culture
    • Stories and pathways
    • Well-being, health and medical geographies
    • Urban Indigenous communities
    • Land rights, territoriality, and sovereignty
    • Geographies of resistance
    • The State and (contemporary) genocide
    • Historical geographies
    • Indigenous "development" and alternatives to development
    • Climate action or governance

Potential poster presenters should submit their poster abstracts to the AAG by January 29, and send your PIN to session organizer Rebecca Dobbs (grdobbs@gmail.com ). Feel free to email her about your topic before submitting, if desired.

Advantages of presenting a poster instead of a paper include better opportunities for discussion about your work, long-term visibility of your poster on aag.org, and a much later deadline!
