30th International Cartographic Conference and International Cartographic Exhibition
    Florence, Italy, December 14-18, 2021

The U.S. National Committee [cartogis.org] (USNC) for the International Cartographic Association [icaci.org] (ICA), a standing committee of the Cartography and Geographic Information Society [cartogis.org] (CaGIS), acts as the liaison between ICA and CaGIS, as well as the larger the U.S. cartographic community. The USNC is pleased to announce the following activities in support of the 30th International Cartographic Conference [icaci.org] (ICC), the biennial conference of the ICA, which will take place 14–18 December, 2021, in Florence, Italy as a hybrid conference:

    1. USNC Funding [cartogis.org] to support U.S. participation in the ICC
    2. Nominations for ICA awards [icaci.org], primarily ICA Scholarships for early career scholars or professionals
    3. U.S. entries in the International Cartographic Exhibition [icc2021.net]
    4. U.S. entries in the U.S. National and Barbara Petchenik International Children's Map Competition [cartogis.org]

Although there is no National Report required for ICC 2021 (they must be submitted every four years in conjunction with the ICA General Assembly; the last report was submitted in 2019), CaGIS maintains an archive of previous U.S. National Reports [cartogis.org].

Please contact the USNC Chair, Aileen Buckley, at abuckley@esri.com with any questions about the committee and its activities.

    IMPORTANT DATES FOR ICC 2021

    USNC Funding [cartogis.org]

Whether or not the 2021 ICC is held in person, the USNC is offering funds to help American and international scholars at U.S. institutions participate in ICC 2021. Support is based on a competitive evaluation of submitted materials, including a copy of the abstract that is also submitted for the ICC and a short curriculum vitae.

Preference is given to early career scholars (graduate students and those completing their Ph.D. in the last 5 years). Of these, single-authored abstracts are given preference. Funding for early career scholars is provided through a grant by the Human-Environment and Geographical Sciences Program of the National Science Foundation. The grant was submitted and is administered by USNC member, Dr. Patrick Kennelly.

Support for non-early career scholars is made available by CaGIS. CaGIS members are welcome to apply.
