The Department of Geography at the University of Connecticut (UConn), Storrs invites applications for a new tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Geography (https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/19572) as part of a cluster hire in Environment and Human Interactions. The University is seeking emerging scholars with interdisciplinary interests and expertise that include (but are not limited to) climate change impacts and societal responses; socio-ecological systems modeling; natural hazards and disasters; food, energy, and water (FEW); environmental policy; environmental health; political ecology; and environmental justice.

Research in the Geography Department at UConn is organized around the following themes: 1) Spatial Analysis of Social Issues, 2) Geographic Information Science & Systems, 3) Earth System Science, and 4) Human-Environment Dynamics. The interdisciplinary identity of the department, integration of human and physical dimensions, and emphasis on spatial thinking align with the goals of this cluster hire. We encourage applicants focused on research themes that align well with our College's recent Strategic Plan and topics including, but not limited to: climate change, environmental justice, natural hazards, renewable energy, environmental management, water resources, resilience, and sustainability. Human and physical geographers, and researchers in related disciplines, are encouraged to apply. The Department of Geography values diversity of backgrounds, academic preparation, and perspectives, and the department actively seeks candidates who will contribute to the inclusiveness of the field, the research community, and higher education. Applicants should demonstrate how they would contribute to the interdisciplinary nature of UConn's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences cluster hire in Environment and Human Interactions through collaborative research, teaching, and public engagement.

Evaluation of applicants will begin October 15, 2021, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
