GEOGABLE Listserv

an electronic listserv for issues relating to geography and disabilities

GEOGABLE is discussion list for scholars in the humanities and social sciences who are interested in geographical and built environment issues as they relate to persons with disabilities and/or chronic illnesses. Although GEOGABLE is the official discussion list of the Disability Specialty Group (DSG) of the Association of American Geographers, membership in the specialty group is not required for becoming a member of the GEOGABLE list and contributing to our discussions. The GEOGABLE list is being served by the Computing Center at the University of Kentucky, and is monitored by list-owner Mike Dorn.

Introductions: New subscribers are asked to take the time to introduce themselves to the list. This message might include the personal or professional background that has lead you to take an active interest in the disability and chronic illness, the nature of your research on geography and disabilities, and the research questions or problems you are currently addressing or would like to address in your work.

This introduction may include questions for the list members, and it will also aid those of us who are relatively new to this area of inquiry to get to know where others are coming from, and what variety of approaches they adopt.

List Moderation: Although the use of the list is regularly moditored, formal "moderation" has been removed. All messages are sent directly to fellow listmembers.
