2020 Award Applications (closed)

The Applied Geography Travel Award

This award is open to all members of the specialty group who are presenting in any research-related capacity at the meeting. Applicants must be dues-paying members of the Applied Geography Specialty Group to be eligible for consideration. Multiple awards of $150 each will be granted. If selected, awards will be distributed to registered awardees before the meeting. Awardees are expected to attend the AGSG business meeting during the 2020 AAG meeting to be recognized for their achievement. Funding is not guaranteed as applications are selected competitively. Applications are due no later than Jan. 31, 2020.

The travel award application will ask you to provide the following information:

  1. Email
  2. Name
  3. Conference PIN (8-digit PIN assigned upon registration)
  4. Position (student, faculty, practitioner, etc.)
  5. Institution
  6. Presentation Title
  7. Abstract
  8. Session Type
  9. How does your research fit into the broader field of Applied Geography? (No more than 150 words)
  10. How would this award support your ability to participate in the Annual Meeting? (No more than 150 words)

The Applied Geography Research, Curriculum, and Project Development Award

This award serves to support and promote the success of members of the Applied Geography Specialty Group. We welcome submissions from anyone working in the Applied Geography field on projects/activities related to research, practice, and curriculum. Applicants must be dues-paying members of the Applied Geography Specialty Group to be eligible for consideration. One or more awards ranging from $250-500 each will be granted. Winners will be announced in the AGSG Spring 2020 Newsletter. Funding is not guaranteed as applications are selected competitively. Applications are due no later than February 14, 2020.

The research, curriculum and project development award application will ask you to provide the following information:

  1. Email
  2. Name
  3. Affiliation (student, faculty, practitioner, etc.)
  4. Institution
  5. Project Title
  6. Project Abstract (250 word max)
  7. Background: Why is this project important? (250 word max)
  8. Methods and/or Approaches Used (250 word max)
  9. Expected Outcomes (250 word max)
  10. Broader Impacts: How does this project relate to Applied Geography? (250 word max)
  11. How would this award help your project meet its goals? (250 word max)
  12. CV (or resume) and Optional Supplemental Materials (photos, class materials, etc.) - via Email
