AGSG Business Items

  • Board Meeting: The AGSG board held its first fall meeting on October 1st, 2024, to review the AAG 2024 business meeting activities and plan for the 2025 annual meetings.
  • 2025 AAG Business Meeting: Since the 2025 annual meeting will be hybrid (both in person and virtually), the board is discussing whether the business meeting will be held in person or hybrid in conjunction with the AAG Annual Meeting. More details will be announced soon.

AAG Annual Meeting

  • The AAG Annual Meeting will take place March 24-28, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan, and will be a hybrid meeting with both virtual and in-person options. For more information, please click on the link: https://www.aag.org/events/aag2025/
  • Note that there are now two separate registration options: in-person or virtual, depending on how you would like to attend. The abstract (Paper and Posters) submission deadline is October 31st, and the session deadline is December 5th, 2024.
  • The AGSG is interested in sponsoring sessions. If you have organized or plan to organize a session and would like AGSG to sponsor, please email Rebecca Loraamm (rloraamm@ou.edu) before the session deadline. 

Awards & Opportunities

  • Anderson Medal: The Anderson Medal Competition is open and accepting applications. Nominations for the 2025 competition are due December 1, 2024. Visit the Anderson Medal webpage for more information and eligibility requirements for the Anderson Medal. Asst Professor Opportunities

  • The Department of Geography and Environmental Systems (GES) at the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) invites applications from scholars in coastal science, pursuing a research agenda in hydrology, ecology, geomorphology, wetland biogeochemistry, or fisheries. Areas of specialization are open, but preference will be given to candidates whose research focus emphasizes biophysical dynamics and resilience of coastal systems in the context of global social and environmental change. PhD Opportunities

  • Dr. Hanlin Zhou, an Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography, Sustainability, Community, and Urban Studies, University of Connecticut is recruiting two highly motivated Ph.D. students in Fall 2025.
